Where to stay on Capri, 3-4 nights

Ana Capri or Capri down at the water. Seems Ana Capri would be better for restaurants & shops.

Absolute musts:
Room terrace with a great view
Up to $400 US a night
Walking distance to restaurants & shops

I’ve been scouring the threads and Booking.com but we are sort of late to the party...thinking of
mid September which is only 2 months away.

Anyone have a favorite?

I don't have recs but am tagging along as we do want to spend a few days on Capri...and also envious!

Denisea.....I was just rereading your TR from Positano. Trying to decide what town to stay in for a few days between Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, etc. As I said, we are late to the party so have to scramble.

For Positano, we liked Pensione Alcione.....great views, suite and staff. Almost across the road from La Sireneuse at a fraction of the cost!
This was 3 years ago so not recent experience.

On Capri we stayed at La Minerva. It's family run and they have a variety of rooms with different amenities and prices. We loved the location -- in Capri town but not on the main drag so to speak -- and they have "Giovanni" who will meet you at the dock, take care of getting your luggage to the hotel and direct you to either the funicular or taxi (whichever you prefer, you may prefer a taxi if there's a long line for the funicular) to get you to town. We loved it.

While it isn't particularly fancy, La Tosca does have terraces with a sea view. and it's within walking distance of Capri's main square -- or at least, it's within what I considered to be easy walking distance.

La Minerva is fantastic, The owner can get you into any restaurant, anytime and the hotel provides beautiful views and service. One of our favorite hotels anywhere in the world.

HappyTrvlr we dream of staying at La Minerva again but for a week. I just want to sit on the deck, look at the sea, read, and drink spritzes there. Heaven.

Once you arrive at La Minerva you are in a quiet and magical place. Getting from the ferry up to Capri Town was a hassle with the crowds but once at La Minerva, it was wonderful.

Agree with kja about La Tosca. The owner also makes a great cappuccino. But it isn't expensive, and it's a lot less fancy than $400/night should buy.

And yet another vote for La Minerva. I stayed there in 2009, so it's been a long time, but I remember it being wonderful. We had a large patio with lounge chairs, beautiful room. Can't go wrong there.

Yes. Leave your luggage with Giovanni and he will show you where the funicular is or the taxi if it's crowded. My advice is to spring for the taxi: it's a great drive up those curvy streets! They will drop you just down from the clock tower. It's a nice walk from there.
