Where to stay in The Langhe?
 

My husband and I will be staying in The Langhe from Oct 5-10 and will have our own car. We plan to visit Barolo Wineries, Barbaresco and Asti. Where do you think is the best place to base ourselves? We will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary so we want to stay somewhere scenic and atmospheric. Our main priorities for visiting the region are food and wine (clearly haha). Any advice on what villages would be best suited or should we just search the whole region and stay at the place we like best? Does it make a big difference as long as we're within 30 min of Alba?

Agree that you should choose the lodging and not worry too much. Weigh staying in countryside vs town location, but after that, pretty much any location within that distance should be good. Driving is easy around there, and scenery is pretty so you won't mind having to get into the car and go.

Hi EK...wouldn't you say Roberta's "La Favorita" would be a good location for Ashley? I'll include pics below somewhere.

The Villa is about five minute drive to center Alba..and very near to Treiso, a bit longer drive east to Asti and vicinity. We found Alba to be a very appealing town.

We really enjoyed our stay at Castello di Sinio We were in Piemonte last summer and loved it!

We loved our stay at La Villa last year in celebration of our 10th anniversary. Wine loving owners provided great insight on what wine makers to visit and wine. Lodging was beautiful and food was top notch.

Take a look at the hotel and restaurant Montelupo d'Albese. It's a chic contemporary hotel with beautiful views over the Langhe and convenient to Alba, Barolo, La Morra and the other sites. AND it has a stupendous restaurant on site run by the family with great food and wine and a big discount for those who stay at the hotel. When we stayed, the host introduced us to a couple of the winery owners who were there for dinner. I won't mention names here, but one was a major Barolo producer. Very congenial hosts - a memorable stay.

Thanks guys! Paolo, we already looked at that hotel but it is booked for our dates :( I've been looking at places for 3 days straight and I am so overwhelmed. If we want to visit alba for the truffle festival, Barolo and Barbaresco wineries plus Asti what's the ideal area we should stay in?
