Where to stay in the Algarve, Portugal
 
Hi, My husband and I, and our 12 yo. daughter and her friend, are traveling to Portugal next June. I am pretty set on most of the places we will stay, but am still looking for an apartment, or villa in the Algarve. Anyone out there have a place they stayed that they really enjoyed and would recommend? We are staying 3 nights, and it seems this would be a prohibiting factor for many places. I have done a lot of searches, but my head is spinning, and am hesitant to stay in a place without a recomendation from someone I trust--like you all! Any help greatly appreciated! pp

Hi,

Don't know your budget or requirements, but these people may be able to accomodate. This is a nice fishing village, near a larger town of Tavira, just 20k from the Spanish border.

You may want to consider the Four Seasons Fairways which is part of the Quinta do Lago Resort in Almancil (15 miles from Faro)www.fourseasonsfairways.
They have beautiful villas and apartments for rent - the web site will allow you to view them - it's a great locations with losts of facilities.

http://www.algarve.co.uk/Page1.htm This is the site for A Mare in Salema, a small town in the west of the Algarve. Summer of '06 we stayed in the B&B part which is pictured on the home page and it's great! After we finished breakfast, the owners (English speaking.....not always the case in Portugal) asked what our plans were for the day and would we like a picnic lunch. They gave us all the left over ham, fruit, etc. from breakfast to take with us. They also have apartments that they rent, with a minimum stay of 3 days, so that would overcome that obstacle for you! We have friends who stayed in one of the apartments this summer with 3 children and were very happy. Have fun! We LOVE Portugal and plan another trip there next summer.

Thank you to all for your suggestions! I think I have found a place through Holiday Rentals. Anyone here ever book through them? holidayrentals.co.uk. We're thinking of one in Praia de Luz. Marilyn, the place you went to is originally the one we were going to use, but they don't have an apartment that could accomodate us all. Thanks again all! pp
