Where to stay in San Sebastian, Spain?
I need some solid recommendations on where to stay in San Sebastian. I prefer good B&Bs. If possible, I would like to keep the rate around 50 Euros or less. I will be there in early June.
I am a 50ish woman traveling alone. Any other recommendations-- restaurants, what to do and don't-- would be great. I am a big foodie. Love cultural stuff. More urban than sporty. Any and all thoughts are welcome!
Thank you very much.

Stayed at the hotel Orly years ago. It gets good reviews on Tripadvisor.
Do not eat at Hotel Londres. Worst meal I had in Europe. Maybe the best was at Belartxo if it is still there.
Don't miss the tapa bars in the old town in early evening.

There are a number of inexpensive places to stay in Donostia-San Sebastian, but at 50 euros or less a night it becomes difficult to make a recommendation for anything other then a hostal.
A few recommendations that you might want to check are:
Urumea, Guetaria, 14, has 6 rooms and was renovated in 2000. Prices are from 46 to 54 euros/night + IVA. This small,2-star hotel is located in the center of SS, 200 meters (600 feet) from La Concha beach.

Terminus, Avenida Francia, 21, has 18 rooms and was updated in 1998. The prices at this 2-star hotel are from 49 to 74 euros + IVA.

Pellizar, Paseo Zubiaurre, 70, has 46 rooms and as renovated in 1996. Rooms at this 2-star hotel range from 70 to 75 euros + IVA.

Saulman, as far as restaurants go, it would be difficult to make a bad choice. The old quarter is teeming with pintxos bars (and their attached restaurants), while the new part of the city has restaurants on every block. People in Donostia eat out all the time and the food is always good. This is the land of great Basque cuisine and offers some of the best chefs in the world today. There are far too many to mention in one short breath, but check out Maribel's Guide to the Basque Country for a little more information.
