Where to stay in Rome?
I was wondering what areas are best to stay in for easy commuting around Rome. We would like to be near some shops and parks. Also any suggestions on B&B's or any other family friendly accomodations at an affordable rate. We will be in rom from June 10-16.

Hi there,
If you can advise your budget and how many in a room (becasue you say family) someone can help you. Judging from the fact that you want to be central, near a park and shopping I would suggest that the Spanish Steps area might work for you. |
We prefer to stay in the Termini area due to the easy access to all of Rome transportation options. A little less expensive, with a number of good more local oriented restaurants. Try hotel Sonya or Aberdeen.

Try looking at VRBO. We stayed in this unit:32035. It was a bit quirky but very comfortable and near the subway station. You can see the coliseum from the roof-top patio. The grocery store was very close if you want to cook in sometimes. We thought the location was very convenient. There are other places that you can pick based on the location on the map. Definitely get near a subway station.

Thanks I will check these areas on map and trip advisor. It's my husband and I and our 4 month old son.

We just got back from Rome where we stayed at Fraterna Domus, a convent near Piazza Navona. It is inexpensive, around 90 euros a night and would be very family friendly. The lay sisters who run it are lovely. It has recently been updated and now has good breakfasts and modern bathrooms.
