Maybe no one has yet answered this because, like me, their answers keep disappearing into cyberspace. I am not an expert but after much studying decided to stay in the old town this June. We chose S. Nikolis' Hotel. They even have special "honeymoon suites", but their regular rooms look wonderful and charming, and they have been extremely friendly and helpful by email. Their email address is [email protected] I think you can see them at a website through www.travel-greece.com.

Definitely... Rodos Park Suite Hotel.

My husband and I honeymooned on Santorini in '93. I know you didn't ask about accommodations there, but I can highly recommend staying in Oia instead of Thira. Oia is at the end of the island - only pedestrian traffic and the best views of the sunsets on the island. We stayed at Finari Villas - they were immaculate and charming and all face the ocean and sunset. Feel free to e-mail privately if you want.

In 1990 I stayed at the Nikolis in Old Town. It's been so long that I wasn't sure my input would help. I enjoyed staying in the old town and the Nikolis was a nice place to stay, but I'm not sure it's the best place for a honeymoon. Depends on what you're looking for. There are lots of resorts around the island. Lindos was more layed back, but a bit isolated. I found the resorts around the island to be too built up for my liking. We also spent a couple nights in the New Town, which I definitely recommend you not do. <BR>The old town is very interesting and worth a visit whether you stay there or not.

I just looked at the web page for the Nikolis Hotel. They certainly have upgraded since I was there. The standard rooms are probably very ordinary, but if you can get the honeymoon suite, I say go for it. You'll enjoy the location.

thanks for the suggestions everyone. St. Nicholis was my first choice but I was told they were booked solid. Park Suites was my next but a greek friend told me it's worth staying on the eastern shore in faliraki. So i'm in the middle of trying to secure a place at the esperos palace.
