where to stay in Paris

I am planning a trip to Paris in September. I would like to stay somewhere in the Latin Quarter or St, Germain area. Hopefully I can do this for under 200euro. Does anyone have any recommendations? Location, location, location.

I'm sure there are loads of 3-stars in Paris in that area in that generous price range. I liked Dacia Luxembourg on St Mich but see it gets mixed reviews lately on TripAdvisor.

(not much of a post I realize, but will top this question for you.)

I would recommend the 6th over the 5th. I really love walking around both areas, but the 6th seems much more classy to me. I haven't stayed in any hotels in the 6th. I stayed in a budget place on the border of the 5th and 13th called Residence Les Gobelines, but you'd probably want to stay somewhere a little nicer and more central on your budget.

Ira will recommend Hotel Napoleon, a 2 star in the 6th, which seems to be quite popular here.

Ira's hotel is the Bonaparte (not Napoleon).

I prefer staying in the 5th. It is true that St. Germain is more upscale, but I (and especially my husband) prefer the student atmosphere, funky shops and plethora of ethnic restaurants in the Latin Quarter.

On the other hand, they are very close together and I would be happy in either location.

Suze , what do you mean by St Mich ? As a Parisian i know that "Boul' Mich'" was used in the 50s' for Boulevard Saint Michel but i've never heard about any 'St Mich'

Hi Norween,

I think that Suze was conflating Boul Mich and Boul St G.
