Where to stay in Pammukale and the Antalya region

My family and I (including 1 yr old and 70 yr old) will be travelling to Turkey in end of April and the only part of the itinerary that is not yet firmed up is from where to stay in Pammukale and Antalya region. We will have a rental car for these areas.

In Pammukale I have no preference other than comfort and budget I guess. Or is there some criteria I am missing specific for that place?

In the Antalya region I noted that the main beach is rather pebbly. Is there a better beach in the area and a hotel recommendation based on experience? My preference is comfort and budget but also the beach. I am open to considering all inclusive resorts if it is worth it.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

In Pammukale we stayed in Melrose House Hotel http://www.melrosehousehotel.com/index.asp and found it ideal.

For Pamukkale, you might consider the Venus Hotel:

My impression -- and I'm NOT an expert -- is that the beaches in Antalya vary, with some being pebbly and some not. Patara is sandy - and VERY windy -- but I don't think there are any hotels right there because it is part of an ancient site. Some of my Turkish friends believe that Adrasan is the nicest area along that coast for a beach, but I thought it too far from the main road (along twisty roads) to be a good base. There is a stunning beach just outside of Kas, but it's at the base of a very steep set of stairs, and so might not suit your family very well. Cirali might be worth considering, although it, too, is a bit off the main road. FWIW, I commented at length on some of these locations in my trip report -- just click on my name to find it and then use the search feature.

Hope that helps!

The best sandy beaches with budget accommodation in the Antalya region are at Side, about 90 minutes or more East of Antalya. This is also an interesting town, partially built on an antique site.

I should remind you that the water will be rather cool; possibly 18-20 degrees Centigrade at end of april. However the daytime temperatures can go up to a pleasant 26-27 allowing sunbathing.

there are both all inclusive resorts in the area and simple hotels.

We stayed at the Sahin hotel in Pamukkale, a small family run business and were very pleased with the experience. The hotel is right across the street from the entrance to the travertines, some rooms have a balcony with lovely views, especially at night when the terraces are illuminated.
