Where to stay in Naples?
Thanks to folks responding to my previous posts my husband and I have most of our trip to the Amalfi Coast planned for September 2018, including accommodations. However the last three days in Naples still need work! We have 2 1/2 days to explore Naples and are just wondering where would be the best area to stay in to do that and keeping in mind we will fly out of the Naples for Canada on the third day. Should we stay in the old town for the first two nights and then go to the airport area for the last night? Our flight only leaves at 1:00 P.M. so we would have lots of time to take a taxi if we were to stay in the Old Town for the three nights if that is recommended. Also, if anyone could recommend a small hotel or B&B in the price range of 120 - 140 Euro per night that would be greatly appreciated.
We will be visiting Pompei from Sorrento before arriving in Naples so that will not be in included in this 2 1/2 days.

I very much enjoyed my stay in May 2015 at the Hotel Piazza Bellini, http://www.hotelpiazzabellini.com/en. In addition to being perfectly located for the sights in the historical center, it’s also convenient to the metro. I have been doing some reading.........what about staying in Lungomare? There are so many negative comments on Naples.......would this be a better area to spend 2 1/2 days in? Is it difficult to get to the airport from there?

I adored Naples and look forward to returning. Like Michael, I wonder what is making you reconsider. Some people don't particularly enjoy cities, and specifically, don't like those that are dynamic and energetic and a bit "gritty" -- I find such places invigorating and rejuvenating. If you want to be in a quiet resort, Naples is probably not for you. It really depends on what you want.....
