Hi sb

I stayed at the Jury's inn hotel near the GMex exhibition centre midweek for £60 per night single include breakfast( they may offer special rates on the web( see www.jurysdoyle.com) or there is the Travel inn (www.travelinn.co.uk ) which I have found to be good value for around £40 per night- breakfast for around £5-6 extra.)

Try Malmaison. It is a nice boutique hotel near to Piccadilly Station (c ds in rooms, big baths, oversize beds, nice bistro and bars attached.) It is a bit more expensive than you are looking for, but they might do special offers.

lastminute.com has good rates for hotels in Manchester. I was able to book a double room at Malmaison for 50 pounds--much less than the Internet special of 70 pounds listed on the Malmaison website.

Try priceline.co.uk. I've used it for hotels just down the road (in Liverpool). Got a beautiful, 4 star hotel for 60 pounds sterling. You could do a lot better than that by bidding for a 2 or 3 star hotel.
