Where to stay in Lucerne.

Would like to know if anyone has recommendations for a Hotel to stay at in Lucerne, Switzerland. My husband is an railroad enthusiast and we plan to spend a couple of days riding scenic railroads.

Last fall we enjoyed the Hotel Flora. It is well located, about a half block from the bridge over the river. I believe it was four-star.
On my visit to Lucerne, I stayed at the Wellenberg Hotel. It is located just a few blocks (3 or 4) from the train station and within walking distance to food, bridges, stores, the casino, etc. It was very plain but clean. Decent food in its restaurant, as I recall.

Please disregard my previous posting. As it has been 3 years, I was mistaken on the name of the hotel in Lucernce. I'm sorry. The one I mentioned was in Zurich and I cannot recall the Lucerne hotel.

Although I have not stayed there yet (booked for one night next month), ths Hotel Albana Weggis has been very responsive, looks great in brochures - - mailed me info and follow-up confirmation by very quick (snail) mail (oxymoron?)

I have seen Weggis from a cruise on the lake, but never actually been there. More infro at www.albana-weggis.ch - - including train/boat connection info.

Best wishes,

Rex
