Where to stay in London

We are planning a trip to London this May. We would rather rent an apartment than stay in a hotel.

Any recommendaitons on where to stay? We live in the USA.

Thanks

How much do you want to spend? Are you renting a week? Are there two or more of you? Do you plan to do a lot of theatre, shopping, sightseeing, or traveling outside town on daytrips?

We are planning on staying for 6 days and would like to spend about $1,100 for the week. Maybe theatre, sightseeing and we can handle mass transportation.

Thanks

Folks,

You are still being vague. Listen to NeoPatrick.

Does the amount you want to spend include all the items you listed, or is that for the apartment?

Let's just assume the apartment....The pound is kicking GWB's and our arses. You will not find much in that price range.

Clearly explain what you want to do and say, and folks can help you. The more vague you are, the more divergent the responses (see Tipping the Pilot for an example).

Otherwise, you will get responses about how much to give to the Dodie fund at Harrod's. Can't give enough to that boy. Remember, 20% if the service is good at Harrod's.

You can find an apartment for that amount in London. I've used London Guest Suites several times. Some of the flats state 7 day minimum but it's possible your time frame might fill in a slot for the flat you want.

Most of the listings tell you the nearest tube stop, etc. If you're from the US, the rates are also in dollars & include VAT. If there are just 2 of you, a studio should be OK. Kensington might work for you but check all the areas including Victoria.

And Knightsbridge. That's an easy area to get to & from.
