Our daughter is studying in London for the year. First trip stayed at the Rembrandt per a suggestion on this web site, get a newly remodeled room it was great. During Christmas stayed Hilton Green Park, loved the location. Later stayed Hilton Waldorf, not a fan. Hope this helps.

Even though I haven't stayed at the Park City in Kensington, I too am looking for a comfortable hotel, and this hotel has been rated highly by some sights, so you might want to check it out. It's in a convenient location and "won't break the budget."

What was the problem with the Waldorf Hilton?

Don't know how this compares to other suggestions, but my daughter and her husband recently stayed at Base2Stay in Kensington and loved it. All new inside. Compact rooms but extremely comfortable with great showers and small built-in kitchenettes. Excellent location, they said.

For my business I am often recommending people hotels in London and I have teenage daughters...

4 star hotels will cost from about £170 per room per night. Of the more expensive, take a look at the Firmdale hotels (www.firmdale.co.uk) - they are lovely boutique hotels and very well located.

At the £170 - £180 mark try myhotel in Bloomsbury (www.myhotels.com) or the Zetter in Clerkenwell (www.thezetter.com). They are both very nice and have around 50-60 rooms each.

For a real bargain (if you book quickly) take a look at the Hoxton Hotel (www.hoxtonhotels.com) It opened recently and has an interesting way of charging where if you book early you get it cheap - at the moment it is showing prices of £59 per room per night. It is in the hippest part of London, with lots of restaurants, bars and clubs. Your kids will love it but it's not Chelsea!
