Where to stay in London
My Husband and I are traveling to the UK on business in mid-May 2013. We will stay in London on our own for 2 nights/3 days. On Saturday we will be going to a show (Phantom) at Her Majesty's Theatre. We have no idea where would be the best areas to stay. We do love nice hotels or B&Bs - reasonably priced but we're willing to pay a little more for great location and nice accommodations. Any recommendations?

Reasonably priced doesn't give us enough information.
We stayed one night at The Apex Temple Court for 144 UK pounds. It was a very nice hotel and a very good price. But, its just an OK location. Not horrible, but not in the thick of anything.
It was super quiet with a wonderful staff and nice everything. Quite modern, which isn't everyone's style.

Ooops, we were posting at the same time. Apex Hotels are not quaint, but Temple Court was once part of the Inns of Court and the architects have done an amazing job of keeping the flavor of the original building.

Thanks -- since we will have such a short stay I want something in the thick of things -- so I guess that isn't quaint by definition (but I would like for the accommodations to be quaint). I don't care for modern. We want to be near a tube.

The Apex Temple should be within walking distance of the show in the West End. Google makes in 23 minutes or 16 minutes by the 15 bus.
Where are you staying on the business portion of your trip? It is often cheaper and certainly easier to extend at your first hotel than to move to another one, especially on a weekend.

Hello there… Have you checked Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove? Those neighborhoods are very nice, but probably more in the west of central London, meaning that you would have to commute taking the bus. This in case you don’t mind using public transport. Also Bloomsbury is lovely. It is actually more central than Notting Hill, and with great public transport connections. If you like to walk and enjoy the city you can easily access a good number of Classic London sights. Another great place is Marylebone. This neighborhood is very close to shopping centers, good restaurants, coffee and teashops and pubs.
