Where to stay in Istanbul, under $100?
 

I've been researching various hotels/apartments in Istanbul for my family to stay in while visiting in early July. It seems that a lot of places charge in the Euro (which is frustrating since the Turkish currency would be more to our advantage having U.S. dollars). Anyway, we're a family of five and I was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to stay in Istanbul? We're looking for something clean, within walking distance to the major sites (doesn't have to be in a tourist area but close by) and will accomodate our family. Any ideas??? By the way, this message board doesn't seem to get many posters???

Check out Sultanahmet Suites. We are staying there in early May and it gets good reviews but I haven't stayed there myself (yet).

Check out Empress Zoe. It is in Sultanahmet within walking distance to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace.

I recommend Dersaadet Oteli. Nice, clean, in Sultanahmet and close to all the sites. Their customer service is really above and beyond. And rooms start under $100.

The Hotel Niles is also nice/clean. Rooms have less character and not as close to the sites but still very convenient. Rooms are even less expensive there.

And the Sari Konak has some very nice suites on offer for families, but I am not sure about price points (I saw a friend's room but wasn't staying there myself).

Hi-I can also rec'd Dursaadet. We stayed there 5 nights when we were in Istanbul. The morning we were leaving we had to leave before the breakfast on the terrace. I asked if we could just have coffee in the loby.They brought us the whole thing!! Over & beyond is what they do. I would stay there again in a heartbeat-this time in a suite. Such a great location. We stayed in The President in the old city for 99.00 3 or 4 years ago. It was in the middle of everything where you could walk to the sights. Fantastic breakfast. I think it's part of the best western chain. Loved the location, breakfast, roof top pool, etc. Check it out.
