Where to stay in Ennis ..... The Old Ground is booked
Looking for where to stay in Ennis. The Old Ground is booked for one of the nights we need as is The Temple Bar Hotel. The remainder of hotels look so-so except The Woodstock Hotel but my concern is the distance from town. Looking at B&Bs I saw Grey Gables is recommended, what about Knocklyon House? Knocklyon is on booking.com but not tripadvisor and it is a bit farther from town than grey gables. This will be the last two nights of our trip so I'm sure we will be a little tired by this point.
Are taxis available should we stay at the Woodstock? Any thoughts are welcomed, thanks! |
what dates?
The Old Ground and Temple Gate are the main 2 central Hotels. http://www.ashfordcourthotel.com/ is also central on the edge of town. Grey Gables is where we aim for when we stay in Ennis but http://www.glenomrahouse.com/ is always given by someone who lives down there. Other Hotels, The West Country is on the Shannon road you could walk into town and get a taxi back? The Auburn Lodge a little further out and this side of town, I used to walk in a taxi back but these days would be a cab both ways. |
I have stayed at Eden Hill House twice and really liked it:
http://edenhill.clareireland.net/ . Easy to get back into Ennis or head for Shannon Airport. |
Very nice but hardly a location if you want a night out in town. possibly €30 each way in a taxi?
|
Edit.
sorry €30 round trip not each way. |
June 16 and 17.

Nothing on that I can see? just a normal Thursday and Friday. Possibly a Wedding using the Old Ground could take up a good few rooms especially if it clashes with a tour. Or everyone heading for the "Tour de Burren" Cycle races on the 18th are staying in Ennis rather than Doolin ;)
Ashford court is showing rooms 2 nights B&B double room €140. |
