We had A very nice stay at http://www.emlaghlodge.com/.
It is an easy walk to town and has a great view.The hostess Maggie is wonderful.

We had a very nice stay at Greenmount House : www.greenmount-house.com
The breakfast is apparently the most complete and delicious of ANY.
Dingle is a wonderful visit...the Slea Head drive spectacular, the town nice for strolling. We met an American couple in a restaurant who had leased a small house and were staying for 6 months in Dingle.

I stayed 6 nights at Greenmount House and the views are outstanding. I had one of the smallest rooms with shower only, but it was clean, comfortable and couldn't beat the view from my window seat. My boys had one of their suites and it is very spacious( 4 lounge chairs), with the wonderful view, refrig. and a bath with shower overhead. You are in luck as far as Dingle goes with accommodations. There are some very nice ones. Oh, Greenmount is right down a steep hill to town. I loved my stay. Have fun. Joan

On the north shore is The Shores. This is near Castlegregory. Dinners are fantastic and the views from most of the rooms are out to the longest beach in Ireland. Last check, the price pppn was E35. This B&B has won awards from Michele Erdvig for both B&B of the year and best food. You won't want to leave. Annette and her family are great.

On two separate stays in Dingle, I've stayed at both Greenmount and Heatons, and on each of these trips they were voted to be the best accomodations of our week in Ireland. You can't go wrong with either one, but as chatham points out, Greenmount is probable a shorter walk into town. Heatons (www.heatonsdingle.com) is on the other side of Dingle, located on the road out to Slea Head and you could also easily walk into town, but I believe it would be a little further than Greenmount.

The Shores is what I was getting at on the north shore. It is truly one of a kind! Of all the places I have stayed near Dingle town the very best was Emlagh House (note it is different from Emlagh Lodge). Expensive but very worth it and a short walk to town.

Yet another vote for The Shores!
After hearing Wojazz speak of it in the past we stayed there in Oct '05 and loved it. Now planning on 19 perfect days this April with me and DH each picking one place to revisit...The Shores was my pick, hands down!
I just recently confirmed with Annette and the price is 40E pp (45E for a king room)...well worth the price!

I've stayed with Mrs. Bernie Bambury at Bambury's Guesthouse on seven different trips. She has 10+ rooms all ensuite and is a joy to stay with. She is reasonable and convenient to Dingle town located about 150 yards from the roundabout at the entrance to the Waterfront.Very clean and presents a Grand breakfast,Maamtoo WWW.bamburysguesthouse.com

Thanks for all the help. We are visiting my sister for a long weekend(Leaving here Wed. returning Monday) so we won't have too much time. She is living now in Kilkenny, but moving soon to ?? another town in Ireland. We want to spend the first night somewhere(I thought maybe Dingle) and then go to where she is living and do day trips from there(we land in Shannon). I think maybe Dingle will be out of the way now?? Any other suggestions? I have been to Ireland once before and liked Dingle and the area but we could easily stay somewhere else like Kenmare or ??? My husband has never been to Ireland.

I think the plus side to the Shores is the remoteness. There is a great old pub in Castlegregory called Ned Natterjacks with is definitely worth a trip. They have music on Wednesday and Saturday during the shoulder season and more often in the summer. Last time through it appeared that the village of Camp may be getting a bit livlier also.
