Where to stay in County Clare?
We will be spending Saturday April 11 in County Clare driving the Burren and seeing the Cliffs of Moher. On the next day, Easter Sunday, we will be driving back to Dublin for a flight out to the US on Monday, mid morning. We would like to stay somewhere that points us in that direction on Saturday night, and also will give us time to get back to Dublin (airport vicinity) by nightfall on Sunday. Ennis, Shannon, further east perhaps? Thanks, everybody.

A lot would depend on what you had done previously, but I would think a bigger town, like Ennis (a personal favorite), or Galway, as there is more to do. Bunratty might not be too bad, either, given it's tourist-centric existance.
From Galway, you could visit Clonmacnoice enroute. From Ennis or Bunratty, the Rock of Cashel. Since it is Easter weekend, however, be sure to PRE-BOOK Fri-Sun nights' stays, as many places may be full, or have multi-night minimums for the weekend. Bob |
I would stay in Gregans Castle hotel near Ballyvaughan and drive to Dublin from there - in about three and a half hours.

I would stay in Ballyvaughan village -Hylands Hotel or else lots of Bed and breakfasts in the area. It is a good place to spend a night - good food, etc. and on the right side of County Clare for moving to Dublin.
Google - Hylands Ballyvaughan and you can check it out on line - sorry dont have the websit convenient. |
