We loved the area around Nyhavn. Lots if restaurants and really buzzy...just make sure you ask for a quiet room as it can get a bit noises at night if you are a light sleeper.

We stayed at the Admiral in Nyhavn area and found it well-suited to our needs.

Everything in Copenhagen is very expensive. We also stayed in Nyhavn. You might want to consider staying at the Clarion Neptun which serves a light buffet in the evening as well as for breakfast.

Would help to know your budget and who you ar /what you're looking for.

We prefer to be in the center of town near the city hall and Tivoli - and the other end of the Stroget.

I also stayed in Nyhaven at the 71 Nyhaven. It is on the water, and old warehouse. Not cheap and be sure to look on the website for the type of room you are getting.

It's been several years to there may be some changes, but when I stayed there, there was a huge difference in rooms from one part of the hotel to the other.

I loved my room and loved their buffet breakfast. So, check it out perhaps.

One end of the Stroget is at the City Hall and Tivoli and the other end of the Stroget is Nyhavn area.

Take your choice as you are going to walk the Stroget anyway from one end to the other !!

We stayed 4 nights at Clarion Collection Hotel Mayfair near the train station and Tivoli gardens. Not a fancy place, but we appreciated breakfast and dinner buffets included in the price and also cake and coffee served in the dining room in the afternoons. We only bought 1 dinner the whole time we were there so saved quite a bit of $$.

It is about a 20-25 minute walk to Nyhavn, but only about 10 minutes to the main shopping area, which was more convenient for us.

I really enjoyed the breakfasts and light buffet dinners that were included with all our hotels during our stays in Tallin, Bergen, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm. It really helped us stay on budget. I am a light eater so these meals were perfect for me. We are definitely not foodies so these meals were fine for us.

We stayed here in September-

Boutique hotel in "hip" area of Copehagen. Rent bikes, it's a great way to see the city.

Michele_d, would it be possible for you to share the contact details of the hotels you stayed in, as I am planning to travel with my children in June .

For me the "best" area is around the train station and Tivoli. I stayed at the Radisson Blu Royal in a room overlooking Tivoli.
