te415976, I assume you mean the Iberostar Grand Budapest?

I ended up booking at the Gerlóczy, based on the wonderful reviews. I booked the air separately since I decided to use United miles to fly round-trip from NY to Budapest. Was able to get saver awards (60,000 miles round trip). My United miles are going a long way. We are booked in first class and business first round trip from NY to Sydney next March. I sure am glad I horded all of those miles!

Like thursdaysd, I stayed in the apartments of Budapest Vacation Rentals. Very well equipped and reasonable.
The one we used also had VOIP and I could call home every day at no cost. This may have changed since. The owner has an extensive collection of information on Budapest and lives in the US. I found reserving with him effortless. |
Laurie, you will like the Gerloczky and the restaurant food is very good. I made a recommendation on another post you have going for restaurants. Also check out the Jeg Bufe bakery and Cafe Imperial.

Thanks LBloom. I was actually just checking out the restaurant you recommended. It looks good. Thanks!

Thanks Peter_krynicki! It seems I picked a good place to stay (with your help of course). I can't wait to go. But right now, October 1 seems a long way off. I wanted to go away this Fall (U.S. Fall) because I couldn't wait all the way to March for Australia, the next good trip. But now October seems a long way off!

If you ever get the chance to go back to Budapest try for early September for the wine festival. We did it last year and are scheduled again for this year. Otherwise, a wine tasting at the Faust Wine Cellar is always fun.

I'm always up for a wine tasting. I will definitely note Faust Wine Cellar.
