where to stay in Bath and York
I will be spending two night in York and then Bath the first week of June. I am looking for recommendations for a place to stay that is clean, with a private bath and in a good central location. AS always price is a consideration. Something moderate if possible.

Hi jpickle,
Check out this link for Cornerways B&B in Bath. http://www.cornerwaysbath.co.uk/index.htm I stayed here in January 2008, and it was excellent. Well-situated, lovely room, great breakfast. Have a great trip! |
On November 2006 we stayed at Paradise House and it was lovely, with a wonderful breakfast included (cooked to order). Parking is free on the street. One warning: it sits at the top of a hill, and you'll want to walk down into town rather than drive, so make sure your legs are in good working order :)

I've recently been trying to get a place in Bath for the first weekend in June. Most places were booked out but we ended up booking a serviced apartment with SACO http://www.sacoapartments.co.uk/apar...aspx?apart=659
We booked a 1-bed apartment which has a double bedroom and a pull out sofabed in the living room for £99 per night. You can get studio apartments for cheaper. They look quite nice on the website and are recommended in the Sawdays special places to stay website http://www.sawdays.co.uk/ |
As I asked on one of your other threads - what is your budget? "price is a consideration" and "moderate" don't tell us how much you want to pay.

We enjoyed the very friendly Four Seasons B&B in York (no, It's not remotely related to the pricey hotel chain). The price was right for our en suite room and the location relative to the City gate and the wall was very convenient. We walked everywhere. For a city of approximetely 100,000, the center of the city is very compact and one (or two) can stroll on a diagonal path between its two farthest corners in an easy 45 munutes. And, it's woth repeating: the owners were delightful.
