Where to stay in Barcelona?

Please help us find the right location - or even hotel/apartment-hotel - in Barcelona.

We travel with two small children, but would like to stay centrally, in a charming spot. Not too expensive...

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Mia

What is "not too expensive"?
Two bedrooms apt.? How long?
When?

Sorry.... max 100 Euro (130$).
One or two bedrooms - 4 beds.
5 nights - 13-18 Oct.

I trust you have a map - you might want to look for an apartment around the big city park - that area is convenient enough (public transportation is good) and I would think it would be nice for the children to be close to that park. I think the apartment websites should help you locate where the apartment is. Another suggestion - we stayed at the Regencia Colon Hotel in a good sized triple for 109E a night - I thought that was a deal - it is right in the middle of the old city - you might want to check that out too.

I recently stayed in the Eixample and thought it was an excellent location (it was Hotel Sixty Two right on Passeig De Gracia).

You can try Hotel Cortes; just 100 metres to the Ramblas and Plaza de Catalunya.

We stay in apts., so I cannot recommend a hotel
We used

but I am not sure if your budget would be sufficient.
Oct. is not beach time, so it would be better to stay closer to the central area. If it helps: the very center of Barcelona is Placa de Catalunya.
