Where to Stay in Amsterdam!?!

We are planning a trip to Amsterdam sometime next month (spur-of-the-moment!)...

We want a place that is downtown, around the Leidseplein. We also don't want to share a bathroom!

Is there any place for about $100 or less (U.S.) a night? Am I kidding myself?
Any help is appreciated.... thanks!

Hi.

Finding what you want for February should not be too difficult, but try being more flexible regarding location. Getting around cosy Amsterdam is quick and easy; confining your search to a specific area may not be worth the trouble.

Go to hotels.nl and channels.nl; these and many other A'dam sites will be helpful to you.

there are hotels in that price range and
downtown but not very nice ones. We stayed at the Le Meridien Apollo 10 mins
tram ride from the central train station
and the RLD for about $140.00 USD from Priceline.com and it was worth the little extra money.

Try Hotel Agora..It is about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute tram ride to Leidseplein..We have booked it for our trip to AMS in April for 135 Euro per night including breakfast and private bathroom. Stayed there before it is nice..Owner's are friendly..http://hotelagora.nl/ You can also try the Hoksbergen Hotel, it is around 90 Euro per night, including breakfast right on the Singel Canal..More of a budget style hotel, but clean and private bathrooms. http://hotelhoksbergen.com. We stayed there last year, but decided we prefer the Agora...There are ton's of other hotels, but after researching not alot of choice for $100.00. Try the Prinsen Hotel as well, it is not to far from Leidseplein...Also alot of people stay at Hotel Kap....And my final recommendation is Sunhead of 1617...http://www.sunhead.com/
They have a variety of properties scattered around the central areas..Good luck..It is not easy to find a good cheap hotel in Amsterdam!!
