Where to start
 

I'm planning to go to Europe in September. I plan to visit Italy, Switzerland and Austria and will spend 7 days.

Please give me advice on how best I can spend these days and what country should I start with.

To be honest, 7 days are not enough for any <b>one</b> of those countries.

Your question is very general, but I'm not afraid to tackle a general question w/ a general answer.

Stay 4 nights in the Swiss Alps and 3 nights in the Italian Lakes. Save Austria for later. Enjoy!

7 days will hardly scratch the surface for any of these countries. Without knowing what interests you, it is difficult to give reasonable advice.

Have you ever been to any of these countries before? I would agree to make it all one country, or maybe fly into Salzburg, stay one or two nights, tour in northern Italy or head straight to Venice; fly home from there or if you decided to rent a car in Austria, return to Graz and fly home from there.

Which is your greater constraint? money or time? If it's time, is this high budget or medium? If it's money, do you have the freedom to add a few more days, if it can be done cheaply?

I hope you return to the forum, and allow a &quot;dialogue&quot; so that &quot;we&quot; can help you flesh this out in the way that makes sense for you.

In my book, that's just plain crazy. 7 days is barely enough to do one or two cities, yet alone 3 countries!!!

If you *insist* on a whirlwind tour, then I suggest you sign up with an organized tour group, and let them plan you itinerary and take care of transportation and hotels.

Bringing your message back up &quot;to the top&quot; since it is your first message here ever...

And maybe &quot;just plain crazy&quot; is language a little bit strong for a first time visitor.

Please don't feel alienated by that.

That's a lot of traveling. About 2 of your 7 days will be spent in transit.

Do not end a sentence with a preposition. :)

You wil spend too much time travelling and be so exhausted. You wont see or do enough and may feel like you cheated yourself.
I went to all three and then had to return to Italy. It was my favorite. Switzerland and Austria are amazing as well. I'd spend all 7 days in Italy. Venice, Florance and Rome.
Find an organized group if you want to cover that much territory, otherwise you may be sorry.

A preposition is something you should never end a sentence with.

IMO... fly into Vienna - spend 3 days there, take overnight train to Venice for 1 day and 1 night there, then onto Florence and fly home from there.
