Where to spend Christmas?
My wife and I would like to take a 10-12 day trip over Christmas. We had hoped for a Mississippi river cruise, but they were not running in December. We live in Colorado and would travel to Europe, Canada or the U.S. We have a Caribbean Carnival Cruise planned for November, so we don't want a large Cruise Ship, but would consider a river trip or other holiday destination. We are interested to hear where others have had a nice time over Christmas.

Don't know if this will help, but we are going to Italy during Christmas & New Years this year.

Sounds like you like rivers and cruises, and Germany is very special at Christmas. How about a cruise down the Rhine? You might combine it with Vienna or seeing how the Alps compare to Colorado. Lucerne is nice, so is Innsbruck - I think (maybe?) you want a place not packed out with European skiers - even if you do ski maybe you can get enough of that in CO?

A Danube river cruise stopping at Christmas markets is great fun. The markets close, usually, on December 24th, but it's all very Christmasy all through December. The market in Vienna is amazing.

Christmas is a big family holiday for me, so I am usually home, but I have had the luck of spending time in Spain and Mexico over the holidays. Of the two, I think that Mexico is the best. The weather is certainly right, there is a lot to see, the festivities are really wonderful, and the food is amazing!

Sounds like you're going to have a nice Christmas.
I'd like to suggest this company - Across the Pond Tours. They're awesome! We took a trip with them once and everything was really top-class. Although it's not yet on their website ( www.acrossthepondtours.com ), we got a mailer about their upcoming Christmas itinerary. They do private/individual (not in a group) tours that they customize to meet each person's desires. They could probably do a great Christmas trip for you... and if you're like me, you'd love to see part of London at Christmas time (although they do travel for the entire UK). Anyway, just my suggestion. Whatever you decide, hope you have a great time! ~ Anne |

we got a mailer about their upcoming Christmas itinerary. >>>> did you just get a mailer from this tour company or are you their managing director? i'm confused. advertising is not allowed by posters here and deceptively implying that you are not connected with this company will not get you any business for these poor value, theme park tours. anyway, i live in the UK and it's the last place i would want to spend christmas. i get as far away as i can. it can be really quite dreadful and hardly an uplifting place to spend christmas...unless you enjoy darkness, rain, gloom and the feeling that everything is closed down and you are the only one around. |

since you like all-inclusives, suggest you consider the ones in the Dominican Republic at Punta Cana or some of the ones at Cancun.
