Where to register for fodors.

I don't see the registration on my screen. Is it on the Europe forum or do I need to back up one page?

Rex Jan 22nd, 2003 11:08 AM

Go to http://www.fodors.com/login/fodors/ to begin the registration process.

from http://www.fodors.com/forums/registration_coming.cfm

Have you refreshed?

Best wishes,

Rex
I have -- have you Rex??

I found it but I have a different question. I registered but used my fake email address because I was under the impression that others where using xxx as a fake email address to avoid spam. But then it said that information regarding confirmation of registration would be emailed to me. So I won't be confirmed because I did not use a real email address.

If I re-register with my real email address is it going to show up on the posts? I don't want my real address to be available for others to send trash mail to me.

Original X Jan 22nd, 2003 11:19 AM

Read it again, your email wont be posted.

Belinda Jan 22nd, 2003 11:19 AM
It won't show on the posts!
At least, that is what Fodors says, if you read carefully.

sfowler Jan 22nd, 2003 11:20 AM

email addresses will NOT appear with your screen name -- as others have mentioned, if you DO want people to email you it will need to be put in the text of your message.

I've already registered, but I'm curious. Since a person can have a dozen or more email addresses (like hotmail ones, for example) I suppose that means he can register under that many different names, one for each address. Someone on the US board said he or she already registered as X. I'm not totally sure how this will prevent the nasty posts and comments.

Jen Jan 22nd, 2003 11:31 AM

Oh, I'm so thrilled! I've always wanted to register someplace as "Anonymous," but it was always taken. Until today! Henceforth, I shall be known by that oh-so-productive author's name.

Despite this thrill, I'm totally skeptical that registration will help at all. I belong to several other boards that have registration but nevertheless make this one look like teatime at Miss Manners'.

Well, now I'm off to register again, using a different e-mail address for the alias I'll use when I'm feeling rude and crabby!

Rex Jan 22nd, 2003 11:39 AM

Yes, Sally, I have registered.

as "Rex"
Karen Jan 22nd, 2003 12:09 PM

I registered! Great to be able to pick out a decent screen name.
I am tripsr4me (if anyones cares! he -he!) :)

Jen Jan 22nd, 2003 12:25 PM

Was "Karen" already taken?

Karen Jan 22nd, 2003 01:15 PM

I don't know- Karen is not my real name :)

Jen Jan 22nd, 2003 01:22 PM

Cool! Mine's not Jen!

beachbum Jan 22nd, 2003 01:33 PM

Anyone out there successfully registered using a hotmail address? Another board required that addresses be linked to a specific "IP Number", which I understand (in lay terms) as my computer's address. On that board you can only register one user name per computer.

jjj Jan 22nd, 2003 01:41 PM

i used a yahoo addr4ess and it worked fine...

xxx Jan 22nd, 2003 03:01 PM

I registered with my hotmail address.

blagh Jan 22nd, 2003 03:08 PM

That would be annoying if you could only access it from a specific IP adress as I use Fodors regularly both at home & work (yes, naughty me!) Plus of course I love reading threads from people who are on their travels in a little netcafe soemwhere more exotic than where I am! Fortunately Fodors isn't doing that - I used a web based (yahoo) email address to register (although as yet I haven't received an email confirmation??)

This is weird. Am I the only person who can't see anything about registration on the site? I've tried the Fodor's entry page, the forums entry page, and a bunch of other places. And yes, I have refreshed. Repeatedly. Should I take this to mean that Fodor's wants me to get lost?

try this... Jan 22nd, 2003 03:22 PM
