Where to purchase lead soldiers in Paris?
 

Hi, we will be in Paris Dec.25-Jan 2. My daughter has always loved my father-in-law's soldier/historical figure collection. When he passed away this summer it was given to her. Her grandfather always brought home a new piece for the collection from each of his many trips to various places around the world. We would like to help her add to her collection during our trip to Paris. Any suggestions where to shop in Paris for such an item?

Just did a quick search for "soldats de plomb" in Paris and came up with "Les Drapeaux de France" specialising in real tin soldiers (civil and military figures). The site (http://www.drapeaux-de-france.com/) isn't working properly but they seem to have a shop at 13, 14 et 34 Galerie Montpensier 75001 Paris.

I think that is the shop in the Palais Royale courtyard, along the left gallery as you enter from the Louvre side. Not sure of name or exact address. They have wonderful stuff. If not the same as Mignonette provided, then definitely worth a visit, and also in the 1st.

There are two stores I know of, one on the Place des Vosges and the other on the avenue Trouville just before it intersects with the Blvd. de la Tour Maubourg. I'd try the Place du Vosges one, though, as the other keeps incredibly odd and inconsistent hours.

Forgive me for not remembering the exact address or street, but there is a store just beyond Notre Dame, on the Left Bank side of the River, that sells toy soldiers. Walk east, in the direction of the restaurant La Tour D'Argent.
