Where to look for month rental apartment Florence.

Just kicking around the idea of taking an apartment in Florence for a month. I am looking for the absolute cheapest accommodation that is safe and clean, any ideas? Should I be looking at another city in Italy? If you know what books/websites I should be looking at for this info that would be helpful also.

We rented an apartment in Rome from a firm called romesweethome.com I remember that their website covered other cities in Italy, also.

Most websites seem inflated for tourists. Just hoping to find perhaps some private accommodation that might be less. Found slow travel with their links for lodging but I bumped into the same problem on weekly listings that were high.

Anyone else?
Here's the URL of a thread with recommendations from me and others:

http://fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=34393922

The site I used was significantly cheaper than anything else I saw when I was looking.

To find more info like this, text search "florence and apartment" here.

SARAH:

I would find the most interesting rental and negotiate for a month's rent. You may be surprised. Also, you mention another city in Italy. If by city you could mean a smaller town I'm certain that you will do much better at, say, an agriturismo. But you'd need a car.

Have you looked at www.studentsville.it? It's a website for foreign students in Florence and there rentals listed in the forums section. Some are for for shared housing, but there are often studio or larger apartments listed.

Some of the places I inquired about were relatively cheap, but since I decided not to rent through them, I don't know if they would pass the "clean and safe" test. Anyway, this website is a place to check.

Cheers,
syrin

I'm renting a i BR apt in Florence for the month of March, paying less than 1000 US. Found it through Doorways, Ltd.com. Try them. I'm hoping it's decent.

Try Hotel Ausonia, it's a pension in Via Nazionale, it's basic, reasonably priced and clean. I'm afraid you will find Florence as a prime tourist spot expensive, the above will be one of your best bets, the owners are very nice and it's perfectly safe. I understand some student accom is more than basic.

Try slow trav.com and also enter a google search for Florence vacation rental. This worked pretty well for me, and I recall that there were some pretty low priced rentals.
good luck!
