We stayed in Lauterbrunnen also. I found it much more peaceful that Interlaken. We stayed at the Hotel Staubbach which may not be the most luxurious place but the views of the falls a re incredible. I found it very comfortable and Lauterbrunnen would be my choice over much more tourist heavy Grindlewald and Interlaken.

To Swiss Rail experts out there, please help me with this: I'm taking the train from Frankfurt to Bern. Now, should I get the Swiss Card before I arrive in Switzerland or it doesn't matter? Was in Scandinavia last month and the train tickets were priced like stock prices on an upward curve: one friend obtained the Copenhagen-Malmo-Stockholm fare info at 8:00am and when she purchased it 90 minutes later, the fare went up 60%! So... wonder if Swiss Rail is from the same school. Thanks for your advice.

BTW, my itinerary have been changed to: Bern, Interlaken, Sion, Zermatt and Luzern; 3 nights each except for Sion (2 nights). Planning lots of day hikes, hopefully the weather will be good. In any case, I always enjoy walking in the rain. Any must-do suggestions?

I think you can only get the Swiss Card outside of the country but I'm not sure. You certainly CAN buy a Swiss Pass within Switzerland.

No - the price stays the same no matter whether you buy 3 months or 3 minutes before departure. The only way to get t down is with a discount card, and then it is still not time-limited.
