Where to hike in the alps in june?

where shld we stay for a few nights to go walking/hiking in june that has lovely views, greenery and charm? we loved murren/wengen/grindelwald and zermatt in past years. The car-free aspect was great. We need a place where we can walk/hike up, but take cable cars or trains down due to bad knees.
Places i have heard about:
Adelboden? Lenk? Bettmeralp? and Pontresina/St. Moritz?
We are open to going to Austria or the Dolomites.

Hi Alain - There have been several recent threads on hiking in the Dolomites.

Val Gardena makes a good base there - with several lifts up to fine hiking country.

There are organised excursions from the resorts if you prefer to join a group.

If you are interested in more serious hiking, consider the Vie Ferrate.

You should also consider the areas around Salzburg/Berchtesgaden. Lots of beautiful, well marked trails, many of which are open year round

Steve...I just wanted to drop in and say how much I appreciate your contributions to this forum WRT the Dolomites region. The more research we do for our upcoming trip, the more valuable your posts have been to us. So thanks.

Salzburg area in June? Argh no. On the Northern side of the Alps, June is known as a notoriously rainy month. With the recent changes in climate this rule is not as reliable as it used to be, but anyway, I'd say avoid. Two weeks of non-stop rain is no fun if you plan a hiking holiday. Stay South of the main crest.
