WHere to go in winter? I do not mind the cold.
I would like to go to Europe with my husband in winter. We both do not mind the cold (Alaskans). We are both in our late 20's so would like somewhere lively and feastive. We live in a rural area so we thrive on crowded places because that is a change for us.

Trana,
Off the cuff, take a look into:
London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Munich, Rome.
|
Scotland for their Hogmany (sp??) celebration. You might find it warm!
|
I've never been at that time, but Edinburgh (or elsewhere in Scotland) during Hogamany (sp?) makes my heart go pitty pat! We are from Minnesota and the early spring there came 2+ months before ours!

If you are up for Eastern Europe Prague in winter was breathtaking - bit cold but absolutely magical at night. There have been recent floods in the region and Prague was hard hit. But if its back in gear I'd say look into it.

I'd suggest splitting your time between Venice, the Italian Dolomites (do you ski?) and Rome. If you aren't interested in those gorgeous Alps, you might do the traditional Italian triad of Rome, Florence and Venice.
|
Vienna -- especially Nov/Dec for the Christmas markets (you said you thrive on crowded places!!)

We were in Vienna in late Nov 2000 -- it was beautiful. I can't even begin to describe...
|
I understand that Venice during its Carnivale season is very lively and festive. That means alot of crowds which you desire. From what I have read, Venice during this season is packed with wall-to-wall people.
|
Well try big cities like London, Rome and Paris if you want crowds. If you dont mind the cold why dont you go to a ski resort in switzerland or austria?
