Where to go for great bouillabaise in Marseilles or around

My husband is craving for a great bouillabaise on our upcoming trip to Cote d'Azur and Provence. I was only planning on getting to Marseilles the night before our flight home, but I must fit in the best bouillabaise...so where do you recommend?

I took my husband to the Chezz Fonfon situated in the charming port
du Vallon Auffes. He loved it!

Thanks. I went into their website and if I am reading correctly, a bowl of bouillabaise is 46 Euros per person! Is that what I should expect to pay??? I know it's a great soup, and a meal in itself, but I am just wondering if these are the prices to expect...

I have seen cheap bouillabaisse at some very touristic places by the Vieux-Port even for less than €20. I imagine those are of inferior quality and you may basically get one dish and no 2nd helping. I understand good bouillabaisse is very expensive today as they say it demands very fresh quality fish of diffrerent sorts. I took a look at the site of l'Epuisette, another rather expensive restaurant also located at Le Vallon Des Auffes. Their bouillabaisse is €55. Another well known restaurant Miramar lists it also at €55.-. I have eaten at none of them since my general meal budget is much lower than that for a main dish.

What I would do: find a restaurant zone, and be guided by my nose and my perception of where local people (you know, the ones not wearing white sports shoes) are going.

Bouillabaise is expensive, EUR 46+ is about right for the best. I must admit that by the 3rd helping of fish I wish I had something different to eat. Another restaurant that has (or used to have) bouillabaise as part of a series of courses is Une Table Au Sud which is near the Miramar at Vieux Port. Still expensive and the bouillabaise was tiny but very tasty.
