Where to go between Florence and Venice??
My husband and I are traveling to Italy at the end of June. Our itinerary is 4 nights in Rome, 3 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Venice. However, I am considering dropping one of the nights in Venice and staying one night somewhere else on the way from Florence to Venice. Any suggestions?

Hi Jessy!

If this is all the time you can spend, don't drop a night from Venice. There is so much to see there, more than most visitors ever see. 3 nights is not too much!

buon viaggio!

Why not stay in Venice? Three nights is really not enough time to see that lovely city and its environs. There are the islands to see (Murano, Burano & Torricello-have lunch at Locanda Cipriani for a treat), or take a day trip to Padua, its very easy by train.
In my opinion, there is really not anything worth seeing for one night between Florence and Venice. A previous poster to Fodor's (Dean, email [email protected]) has a list of 10 things to do in Venice off the beaten path. You may want to email Dean and ask for a copy of the list. Have a good trip, Chet.

You might check out Bologna, which is a small, but bustling city in Emilia-Romagna, about halfway between Florence and Venice.

There's no shortage of wonderful things to see in Venice- a month wouldn't be long enough for me. However, you might like to see Verona (1 hour by train from Venice). It's very beautiful with great churches, galleries and the Roman amphitheatre as well as Juliet's balcony
