Where to go?
We are planning to spent 3wks in Spain and Portugal in August 2003. We've been to Barcelona last year and fall in love with it. We plan to visit Madrid, Seville and Valencia before moving on to Lisbon. How do we get from one city to the other in Spain and from Spain to Portugal. Any advice?

Hi Mel,

If you were to visit Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. how would you travel!!!

For me the flexibility of discovering the hidden gems out of the city centers is important; therefore I typically rent a car. In Spain there is as much charm in the countryside as in the cities.

Have a great trip.

I assume that you would be arriving in Madrid. A look at the map would indicate that Valencia is in the opposite direction from Portugal. Unless you have a special reason to go there, it would be much better to get a taste of Toledo, Granada and Cordoba on the way to Seville (driving of course). On the way to Portugal but slightly off course, Mérida has some nice Roman ruins. If Seville is not a must, you might want to go west from Madrid, and see Segovia, Avila and Salamanca on the way to Portugal.
