Where to Find Good Fougasse in Paris

Love fougasse and each time I'm in Paris I try to find one that is like what I have enjoyed many times in Provence. So far no luck. Any suggestions as to where they make a really good fougasse in Paris? thanks!

Grand Epicerie de Paris in the Bon Marche department store

Moulin de la Vierge: Located on105 rue Vercingétorix, has canelés, country bread and fougasse, which is a kind of crispy bread with yummy fillings.

Don't know if this is lame or helpful: There's a guy at the Bastille market who sold the best I've ever had. My favorite was made with bacon chunks ("lardons," appropriately enough?).

I don't remember the name of the stall, but it was a large one, with many choices, and not very far from the Bastille end of the market.

The market is Thursdays and Sundays, I think.

cigalechanta & pavot -- thanks so much! Can't wait to taste fougasse at your suggested places.

pavot -- the stall u mention at the Bastille market is it just bread or all kinds of bakery stuff? Might help me to identify it. Yea, love the lardons and never thought of it, but perfect name!

Go to the aptly named La Fougasse on the rue de Bretagne in the 3ème.

Also had great fougasse at the boulangerie on the rue Sainte-Dominique at the other end of the block from La Fontaine de Mars.

The fellow I'm talking about had all kinds of bread and several different varieties of fougasse. Not cakes or sweet things if I recall correctly.

And he was vey patient with my non-French.

This reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask; willpost a separate question so as not to hijack...

Hey StCirq -- enjoying this gorgeous weather in DC? Thanks for your suggestion...adding it to my list and it's nice and close to the apt we will be renting.

pavot, thanks again -- that helps and glad he's patient with non French speakers. My HS French only goes so far.

There is a video on the Bastille Market over at geobeats.com.

Kind of fun to see:

Yup, it's been just lovely here in DC. Hope you have great weather in Paris, too (though somehow, bad weather in Paris is a lot more palatable than bad weather here). Enjoy the fougasse (btw, it's pretty easy to make!).
