"Doni Pensione" is hard to beat. See my recent rating on Fodors."

"Alla Rivetta" nearby is fun and cheap and good.

Want to spend a few dollars?

hi if you can't find any comments on your hotel here, look for comments at
www.tripadvisor.com
If you can't find any customer comments anywhere, I'd consider an alternative hotel--no need to go in blind.

Hi,

Walk away from Saint Mark's Square in any direction at about 7:15 PM.

At 7:30 PM, stop at the first place that looks good.

I'll second Corte Sconta..the pasta with squid and squid ink is wonderful...and all the fish dishes were exceptional!

Any of the cafes, standup coffee/wine bars along the sidewalks. Great pastries in the morning & ready made sandwiches of meats, roasted vegetable, or my favorite boiled eggs and fresh tomato on wonderful bread. Prices are marked, you can just point one out.

These weren't actually in the square of San Marcos but frequent as you walked to and from.
