Where to eat in Rothenburg?
Will be there in two weeks time. Staying at the Burg Hotel. Does anyone have suggestions on where to eat? Thanks.

We ate at the restaurant in our hotel, the Kloster-Stüble, and the food was fantastic. DH and I both had schnitzel and spaetzle.

This has been about 6 years ago, but we ate at a place that was down the side street from the torture museum, it had a devil's head as a sign outside. I cannot remember the name of it, but it was SOOOOO neat inside, and the food was great. How's that for details?!

We had relaxing lunch at Gastof Spitaltor on Spitalgasse. There is a small beer garden in the back - we found it by following a little sign from the sidewalk that said Biergarten and had a finger pointing down a little alley. Plenty of shade and quiet - sort of a hidden away place. It was a nice respite from all the people on the street. They serve Tucher beer and standard German fare.

We also ate at the Kloster-Stuble and the "devil place", which is called Hell. It is supposed to be one of the oldest inns in Rothenburg.
Please do a trip report when you return. MY |
The restaurant in the Hotel Gasthof Glocke was very good when I was there several years ago.

We ate at the Altfränkische Weinstube. It was out of the way on a little side street towards the rear of the town. The food was wonderful.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I've made note of them all.

I am with tcreath and MichelleY, the Kloster-Stuble is wonderful!! We ate out on the patio and the food was excellent.

We just returned from Germany and ate at Hoell while we were in Rothenburg. The food was wonderful and my husband celebrated his birthday in the 1000 year old cellar room.

I second the recommendation for the Altfrankische Weinstube. Here's the website:
