Where to eat in Rome and Florence

I've gotten some great recommendations on where to dine in Venice, and have some ideas near the Vatican, Coloseum, etc. in Rome. Can you share some of your favorites near Glglio Bianco (Florence) and Navona Garden Suites (Rome)? It takes quite a while to sort by location from all the excellent posts.

In Florence we went to Garga 3 night in a row. Be sure to get the salad with soft Parm cheese hunks on top.

Thanks so much, quinn. Anyone else have more ideas?

Hi Gor217,

We loved the food in Florence. We ate two nights at Baldovino on Via San Giuseppe - it was my children (14 and 10) favorite of our European trip. It is close to Piazza Santa Croce.

We also enjoyed Gozzzi Sergio - it is only open for lunch and close to Piazza San Lorenao - you will see many locals having lunch there - it was among the best food I had there. Everything is very fresh - if you arrive later - they are likely to be out of something - (it was also close to the most inexpensive meal we had) very sparse in decor but excellent food.

May I also recommend if you are looking for something "different" to do - we did a "food crawl" with Emily (I cannot recall her last name) through Context Tours - it was big fun - show up hungry! She is a wealth of information - not just on food but Florence in general - an American who has lived there a number of years now...

Oh one more... a resturant right by our apartment - Acaua al - I believe on Grechi - there is one in San Diego as well - I recommend reservations - it is always packed.

Regarding Rome.. unfortunately we did not have as much "luck" in Rome..nothing was amazing...
