Where to Eat Dinner in Bath
 

Just got a note from the Hill House where we are staying in Bath (thanks maitaitomi). There is a big festival in Bath when we are there. They recommend making dinner reservations in advance. We are very eclectic in our food tastes and will eat just about any type of food. I prefer moderately priced places ( around £120 for 2 people). Would love your recommendations! Thanks!

It's been several years ago, but DH and I ate at Hall & Woodhouse (I'm pretty sure this was from maitaitom's trip report) which was very good, and Loch Fyne, a seafood place we happened upon, where we had some of the best oysters we've ever had. We loved Bath!

Herself and I like French-style cuisine. We very much enjoyed Brasserie Blanc - http://brasserieblanc.com/restaurants/bath/.

Our tastes are perhaps more pedestrian. We liked Tilleys - it has a a number of dishes that are vegetarian friendly and the touristy Sally Lunns. Both had good food and the latter is quite atmospheric. Both will be far under your budget. I am not sure if the Pump room serves dinner, but our lunch there was excellent, the atmosphere elegant and the service perfect. That one would be at your budget for dinner.

It was our first trip to Bath and we loved the city.

£120 for dinner for two is moderate? Wow. Outside London that would be considered an expensive meal. We eat out a lot and rarely need to spend over £100 even for quite a posh dinner.

That's good to know. Hard to know what prices are like in other countries/cities.

Maitai- we really liked Hill House, thanks for recommending. Breakfast this am was indeed pancakes and they were delicious.

We had 2 excellent dinners- Chequers and Circus.

Whatever you choose, don't eat at The Real Moroccan restaurant near Abbey Green! The WORST Moroccan food I have ever eaten. We ended up eating at the Crystal Palace opposite our apartment, which was also a real disappointment - all adjectives and no delivery. Sorry we can't recommend anything - we totally loved Bath but didn't find anything but a couple of local beers to satisfy our appetites. Probably (well, I know we didn't, because we were traveling on the fly) didn't do enough research. But apart from food, Bath is a gorgeous place. We were transfixed by the Roman Baths, and we have Vessuna nearby in Périgueux that we can compare it to. All mind-boggling.

We're in Devon now. Loved Bath! Thought it was a beautiful city with the Bath stones on all the buildings and the Georgian architecture.
