Where to check e-mail in Venice

Where can I check my e-mail in Venice? We will be staying in a hotel in the San Marco area.

Your hotel will likely have an internet connection. There may be a small fee for use.

We stayed in the San Marco area also and our hotel had a flyer about a cybercafe in the area. It was very easy to find in a residental area. Just ask at the hotel.

We were able to find plenty of places to use computers in Venice. Just keep your eyes open as you walk along.

There's an internet place in Campo San Stefano, which is between Piazza San Marco and the Accademia bridge.

There is a network of cybercafes and internet stops all over Venice. I went to one where you can buy a card and have it punched when you use the computer. This company also has shops in Rome, Florence and Milan, so the card is useful if you'll be near the other stops. The name escapes and I'm at work away from my notes. I'll try to send later. But essentially, there are lots of places, and you needn't get tied down to anyplace!

loislane, it would be great if you could help with the name of the place you used. I will be in Rome, Florence and Venice starting on the 15th and the card idea sounds perfect.
Thanks
Gary 13 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure this is a reference to http://www.thenetgate.it

I have used them in Rome and Verona, and seen them in plenty of other cities.

Excellent facilities and staff.

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks, Rex. I've been trying to remember the name of the place we used in Venice last year and, from looking at that website, it was a Netgate place, just a bit south of the Frari. We really liked it. Very cozy, good rates, and they even had a half-price "happy hour" on certain days.

We used the Internet place in Campo San Stefano listed here many times during our week in Venice. It was easy, comfortable and always worked! You will be asked for your id(passport) which they will xerox a copy of..go prepared.

And Campo San Stefano is within easy walking distance to San Marco. You can easily spot the internet place we are talking about. It is across the campo from the clothing store with wooden models of the doges outside..this will make sense to you when you are in Venice.

I agree that the place at Campo San Stefano - - Net House, I think - - is very good. Although I have used NetGate in Rome and Verona, I have never seen the NetGate location in Venice.
