Where to catch the RER train at CDG
 

On our trip over to Europe, we're arriving at CDG and need to, immediately, go from there to Paris Nord station. We will be taking the RER train.

Can anyone tell me the general vicinity where I will catch the RER train at CDG? Also, where do I buy tickets for the RER train?

I can't remember the specifics unfortunately but I do remember it was very clear to find and that tickets were easily available right by the trains. No worries.

The degree of difficulty depends on what terminal your arrive into. If it is an international flight, you typically arrive at a different terminal than where the RER train station is located. Follow the train signs, they will lead you to a bank of elevators to take you down a level from the arrivals, from there, you will likely catch a brief shuttle ride (big yellow buses, clearly marked)to the RER station. Even if you arrive very early in the morning, there are ticket agents at the station who will assist you with your purchase. There are also autmotaic machines, but due to my poor French and usual state of exhaustion on arrival, I have yet to make them work for me!

you take the Shuttle to the RER Location at the airport ( you probably will arrive at terminal 1)

Ask the information desk at CDG..they are helpful and speak english..

Once you get there just ask for a ticket ( BILLET ) in French (I think)

RER B does stop at Paris Nord...but please confirm this

I used RER B to get from central Paris to CDG on my return..and its pretty simple..

From Fodor's City Guide. Note that you can buy a ticket from the machines or the ticket window (across from each other). Easier to use machine if busy time of day, but won't take credit cards, just change (or Carte Bleue)



By Train: From Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, the least expensive way to get into Paris is on the RER (Réseau Express Régional, or Regional Express Network), the suburban commuter train. Each airport terminal has an exit where the free RER shuttle bus (a white and yellow bus with the letters ADP in gray) passes every 7-15 minutes to take you on the short ride to the nearby RER B-line station: Terminal 2A (exit A8), Terminal 2C (exit C8), Terminal 2B (exit B6), Terminal 2D (exit D6), Terminal 2F (exit 2.08). Trains to central Paris (Les Halles, St-Michel, Luxembourg) depart every 15 minutes. The fare (including métro connection) is EUR7.62, and journey time is about 30 minutes. Note that you will have to carry your luggage down to the train tracks, and trains will be crowded if you are traveling during rush hour.
