Where to buy a copper pot in Paris....channeling my inner Julie Childs!

We are absolute foodies and I am determined this time in Europe my 'souviners' will be food inspired. I would love to purchase a small, like 9cm, copper saucepan. Where can I get one (I realise they are probably in all the homeware shops) from a place that would be reasonably priced, not a tourist souviner shop?

We are staying in the 15th, but no doubt we will be 'all over Paris'.

Thanks as always.

Dehillerin is the mecca for cookware in Paris.

I also like A Simon on rue Montmarte

Thanks avalon, I have googlemapped and looks like a good way to 'fill in time' while our travelling companion is at the Louvre. (we've been & I for one enjoy kitchen shops more than museums ;-))

Thanks again.

All of our copperware is from Dehillerin; be sure to get stainless or nickel linings. We only use alcohol burners with them; the copperware will last forever that way.

I've been using the same copper pots for 49 years and have used them on gas and electric stoves with no problems. Even have used them on the grill occasionally. I clean them regularly with ketchup! Yes you read that right!

Before leaving home you could print out the copper kitchenware available on Amamzon.com just to compare prices.
E. Dehillerin, 18 rue Coquilliere has great cookware but be prepared to max out your credit card!

If you walk the area around Dehillerin, there are also other cookware shops that you can check out. Happy Travels!

If you visit Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, you can look around there too. Although you're highly unlikely to find anything that compares to a new pot from Dehillerin.

9cm copper pan? Sounds like a large thimble to me!

I bought my copper pans in France about 15 years ago in Villedieu-les-Poeles where every other shop sells cookware and then some.

Here's an interesting Wiki link on the 'copper' town.

What is the town near Paris that holds a cookware fair each year? (Where vendors sell vintage things related to food and cooking)

However, if your travels take you to the Dordogne, there is a <i>dinandier</i> in St. Amand de Coly (http://www.saint-amand-de-coly.org/e...dinandier.html ) who also sells at the Sarlat market.

Dehillerin-----they told me to leave !!!

It was going to be our daughter's copper wedding anniversary so we went there to buy a gift. We weren't at all concerned about the price, actually we wanted something very good. When we told the man we wanted something small because of transportation he got extremely irate and said that if we wanted a gift we should leave and go to Williams-Sonoma. He ran a store for chefs!

I guess $200-$300 wasn't enough of a budget for him.

Paris is still our favorite place and we have returned many times, but not to Dehillerin.

Think about a stainless interior instead of tin. Longer lived.

I was going to buy myself a copper tatin pan in Paris this fall, that is until I picked up one in Sur La Table. It was a lot heavier than I expected. Sur La Table had such a good sale on Mauviel that I just bought it here and will save the luggage space (and weight) for something else!
