Just saw him dance all over the world. Actually, well done. Surprised he doesn't have a dance in an airplane... he has certainly has travelled enough in them.

How utterly unexpected and fabulous! My thoughts ranged through "bless, gotta love his dancing style and smiley face" to "gosh hasn't he been to lots of places in one year" to "wow, is he a millionaire" to "bloomin' heck it's still going"!

Loved it! Will save the 2005 one for another day!

That really was an unexpectedly great video - I especially loved the reactions of the bemused bystanders (including the animals).

I wouldn't mind some company sponsoring a similar trip so I can dance all over the world. I don't dance as well as Matt, though.

I just loved it. I mean, how can you view these and not feel good? I had to go back to watch them again. The music is hypnotic. It grabbed me right from the first image at "Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia". I googled Salar de Uyuni to learn more.

Me too - the first time I watched it (linking from the thread) I was smiling and humming along and when he ended up in front of the Seattle Troll I sprayed Iced tea all over the monitor :)

kswl: I did see his packing list. The thing that caught my eye was the vacuum bag for his clothes. Those are the bags that when used with a vacuum, sucks all of the air out of the bag and leaves you with at least double the amount of space. Interesting idea. Although with most of the locations he's been to, I would think that vacuum's may not be ubiquitous.

You don't need a vacumn for the bags to work! You just put the clothes in, seal the ziploc, then start at one end and roll the bag so that all the air is pushed out of a one-way valve. Voila--a flat pack of clothing.

We use the vacumnn bags, too. They are great for dirty laundry.

kswl: so what is the difference between say, a really large zip lock bag and a vacuum bag? Can you push more air out of the vacuum bag leaving you more room in your suitcase?

Yes, the vacumn bag has a valve that lets air out and not in, that functions when the bag is otherwise sealed. You are able to squeeze virtually all the air out, which is not really possible with the ziploc. You should get a package of these and try it. There are several brands.

The vacumn bags also come in larger sizes than do ziplocs, which makes them more useful for dirty laundry. I know people who pack separate outfits in those large 2-gal. ziplocs (everything, pants, top, socks, underwear, for one day in a single bag). That wouldn't work for me because I try to wear different slacks with more than one shirt. The large size bags will hold about 3 pair of pants (jeans, corduroys, etc.) and the medium size usually holds all the underclothing I take on any trip.

As many posters have mentioned on other threads, though, you have to be careful about the weight factor. The clothing still has the same weight even after you've reduced the volume considerably. That sounds obvious, I know, but while it looks like "nothing," several of those tightly packed vacumn bags can make your luggage overweight and/or heavy to lift.
