Where should I go (4 days after work week in London)

I'm going to be in London next week for work, but have the luxury of four days afterwards before I have to return to the states.

Where should I go? I've done Paris, but was considering Belgium and Holland possibly. Or maybe stay in the UK? Appreciate any brainstorming thoughts! :)

Fly to Antwerp from London City Airport. Very fast and convenient; you'll be in the centre of Antwerp within half an hour after landing. You could take the train to Amsterdam from there and fly back to London or home.

I'd stay in the UK. There are a couple of for a four day trip--Canterbury and the southern coast, Bath and the Cotswolds, Stonehenge and Avebury.

Or take the train to York.

In Antwerp, stay here:

Ackislander, after incurring significant guilt from relatives, I think I'm going to do Edinburgh. :) Any suggestions? I'd also like to see Stirling or St. Andrews, but am not wild about renting a car. Maybe the train would work . . . will have to investigate.

Amsterdam is a very fun and vibrant city.

Amsterdam is definitely on my short list. I hear wonderful things about the pancakes and architecture! This time I'm thinking about the highlands though. My only hesitation is that there's a bit of a shortage of daylight these days...

Edinburgh is a great choice and there is plenty to keep you occupied.

Stirling is very easy to do by train fron Edinburgh and it is a frequent service. If you do this, it is worth breaking journey at linlithgow and visiting the ruined palace there.

You can get a bus fron Edinburgh to St Andrews or else catch a train to Leuchars and get a bus to St Andrews from there.

Hi BOSTONBLONDIE,

Glad that you enjoyed Edinburgh. What about a short trip report regarding your experience????

4 days? I would just stay in London the whole time.
