Where is the fun in Rome?
My friend and I will be going to Rome for the first time in July but will only be there for 2 days. Does anyone have any suggestions of places to eat or dance clubs for two young women? Any advice will be appreciated.

You don't say how old you are, which could color your idea of a good time versus mine. Personally, I'd plan an evening walk of Rome that includes Pantheon, Campo Fiore, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and ending at the Piazza Navona for a drink or Gelato. The Trestavere, (spelling?)is a great place for the evening. Its old village Rome and there are lots of Trattoria around for a great meal.

I wholeheartedly agree with the evening walking tour. Rick Steves' book on Italy has a GREAT one!! Spent a week there, and did the walk twice.....everyone agreed it was the best thing of the trip. It goes through all the great squares and sites, and lots of clubs, etc along the way.

I don't mean to be sarcastic, and maybe I'm showing my age, but if I was going to Rome for only two days, I wouldn't put the dance-club experience at the top of my list of things to see and do! Kimberly, surely there must be other items on your "things to do" list for Rome, one of the world's great cities, that we can offer input on!

Howard, I am glad (in a way) that you said that instead of me. but to anyone who says it - - it is a mark of being older and having other priorities. We know nothing of the rest of the trip that will take these two to Rome - - or any other destination - - which might or might not be in Europe. And if they want to go to a dance club, from 11 pm to 2 am - - what else would old fuddy-duddies (like me or you) have them do instead?

I hope they have a great time in Rome, (at the meetings they are going to attend - - for Amgen? maybe?) and wherevere else they are headed. Heck, I wish that they were taking me!

And I hope that they see some of the Europe that you and I know and love best!

Best wishes,

Rex
