Where is the Carousel in Florence?

Can anyone tell me where the carousel is in Florence. It's supposed to be near the Uffizi but I can't seem to find any more info on it. Thought it might create a breeze on a hot August day for the kids!
Thanks again!

liz -

since I first read your question (about an hour ago) I've been looking through my many books on Italy and surfing the web - looking for the carousel.

I feel like I'm losing my mind - since I can almost swear that I've seen that carousel and that it's somewhere in the North east part of Florence, near the Piazza Massimo d'Azeglio.

Well - you really have me going - if I find it, I'll let you know...

Dona

Thanks Dona I appreciate the help! I too have 4 different guide books but nothing is mentioned in any of them. I also did a search but nothing came up. Maybe I'm just going crazy? But I could swear I heard somebody somewhere mention one!

Hi Liz,
When I first read your question last night I right away thought that you were talking about an ice-cream palour we visited in Florence, I asked my husband but he's not sure. I'm pretty sure the wonderful place with the huge range of icecream was called the carousel... mmm... yum :) So are you talking about a real carousel?
Anyway good luck finding what you're looking for.
Carol.

Yes Carol, I am talking about an actual Carousel that one rides, not eats in.
Somebody must have passed by it, or rode it? Help please!

Dear Liz,

There is a very nice carousel on the Strozzi Square, close to Piazza della Repubblica (very central). Unfortunately, usually it is closed during July and August... On a hot August day, the best would be to take your children to Boboli Gardens where you will find a bit of breeze and shade.

Ciao from Florence.

Silvia

P.S. Sorry for the mistakes!
