Where is Statia and her poisonous thread?

I know, I know, misspelled or misused word

It's Friday, and I can't wait to get home to the bottle of red Hungarian wine, something with a "bull" in it.

You could always try either (a) swearing or (b) starting a discussion of American politics, so that all evidence of Friday afternoon brain overload gets deleted superquickly .

Well, FianaAgain, while we're on the topic of drinking, we're sipping Mumm Napa "champagne" and are just waiting for the lobster thermidor to come out of the oven. (It's my wife's birthday.)

Hey Faina, I think you have been nipping at work, LOL. My poison tonight is either ice water or V8 Juice. Haven't had any wine for days, or should I say nights. See, the flu does have it benefits. Now get over on the US Board, quick!

Hi crefloors, I wish I had some vodka. For some reason the thought of wine almost makes me gag. Isn't that strange? But you know what, a blody mary sounds good. Except I would have to go to the store and buy the vodka and not feeling up to that, sob!

Hot there? It sure is here. Think we will both have high temps through the weekend. And you have a good weekend.

Well, in the middle of the Hot August Nights stuff. I am such a "Grinch". It's hot and I have to do errands tomorrow and the traffic will be horrible and I've been to Hot August Nights so many times that it doesn't thrill me that much, and...this should be on the Rants and Raves thread ya think? LOL Glad you're starting to feel better..it sucks to be sick and then when its so darn hot it makes it more uncomfortable I think. Try to stay cool.

Mmmm, I really like the Bikaver wine (aka Bulls Blood). Enjoy!

Wish I could get it here, but we live in a state where wine can't be shipped and the local shops don't have it. Grrr.

Marianna, thanks!! I used a Julia Child recipe from the The French Chef Cookbook (just to sneak in a Eurpoean travel reference).

Unfortunately, one bottle of champagne is never enough and two is too many ...

Dear LovelItaly,
So sorry you have been laid low by the flu. I always think it's worse in the summer. How long did it last? Hope you are on the mend and back on your feed (and drink) super soon!

Hi Carol, how are you? Dear one I (also my daughter) started feeling crummy last Thursday. We just thought it was from the heat. But it turned out to be some kind of a flu/virus. Really hit us bad. She said today that like me she is over it but neither one of us have much energy or appetite. And the high temp doesn't help so just staying inside with the a/c going, which I really don't like.

I was suppose to go to SF tomorrow and spend the day with Faina and of course had to cancel that. Hmmmm, is that why she started on the Hungarian wine, LOL. Anyway we will reschedule of course.

Hope all is well with you. Have a happy weekend.

And crefloors, Hot August Nights, bet that is a load of fun trying to get through.

Hey, know what? I think Faina started an European FreakyFridayRant&Raves combined with a What's Your Poison Thread. Too funny.

The usual Friday night poison thread is over on the US forum for those of you who would like to pay a visit and indulge us with your Mother Nature travel horror.

I don't post the thread here because I know by the time we start cocktail hour on this side of the world, the Europeans are winding down for the night.

Wait a minute....maybe that would make it more interesting?

Hope you're feeling better, LoveItaly.

Hi Statia, ooops, we got caught, LOL. Afraid that was going to happen. It is ALL Faina's fault, honest.
See you on the US Thread in a second.

OK, ladies and gents, my bottle is opened, ready to take the blame.

LoveItaly as you are so mean to me, I won't save any for you! (insert the smiley with a sticking out tongue, I keep the print-out at work)

Statia, I didn't do it on purpose, but do you see how the thread had picked up? Food for thought...

Happy B-day, Mrs Adorne! Papagena, let me have another glass, and I'll be ready for politics. I still have some Swiss chocolates Time to get busy.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!
