Where is Partick, Scotland?
 
Will be visiting Scotland soon, but can't locate Partick on the maps I have. Can anyone shed some light? <BR> <BR>Thanks!

Time to get a better map, Tina. On my map, its maybe 3 or 4 miles NW of central Glasgow, along the Clyde, about half way to Clydebank. If you are doing any driving over there, you need a 3 miles to the inch map.

It is in the centre of Glasgow, around the University area. Is this a joke? <BR> <BR>In Scotland it is best known for its football(soccer) team, Partick Thistle, better known as the Jags, or Partick Thistle Nil!

Thank-you Ron and Sheila for your replies. Sheila, definitely not a joke! All I have is an old photo of my Great Grandfather, James McColl, with "born in Partick, Scotland" on the back. We will be in Scotland in June so have been scouring maps trying to find Partick, with no luck. I am from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have never been to Scotland before. Thanks again! <BR>Tina

Try and find a book called "The Dear Green Place" or "No mean city" for a feel of how it was when your gampa was there.
