Not to encourage the posting of personal information on-line, but where do you live? I was under the impression it was in Spain. . .

valencia... not to worry. have posted that and too much personal info already to worry about it!

i have been reading your posts with a lot of interest, as you have added some new spice to the board and a lot of interesting knowledge!

my husband's family was from alicante, too, so i had a smile when i saw you were an exchange student there.

welcome.

Anda, una valenciana. My host parents both grew up there and we used to go visit la yaya Carmen on weekends. I can't wait to get back there!

I'll try to keep it spicy!

I AM concerned about Kenderina though because I think she had some health problem...

funny how you get attached to people you have never met..

i hope someone out there has a way to get in touch.

I'm still here, lin !!! Thank you for your concern :) You are right , it has been a health problem , but not mine. My mother had a vesicle surgery and as she is 73 years old, the recovering has been harder than usual although she had a laparoschopy which is quite "simple" and she only was in hospital for 4 days. In addition, I'm studying Filologia Inglesa (I've always wanted to do it, so it's never late to learn new things !) and I took my exams those days. But now everything seems to be alright, so I'm here again :)
Yesterday I posted in a thread about languages so I've read Claire post too. Nice to know you have a nice time round here, I'm from Castellón :)

Parleu valencia?

lincasanova Feb 24th, 2006 01:30 PM

sigh.. relief! glad you are here.. just haven't seen a post.

maybe we can all get together sometime???

would be fun to have a valencia gtg..
but no takes last time..
not quite paris or nyc!

laclaire Feb 24th, 2006 01:37 PM

I would be totally up for a Valencia gtg once I am back in the country. Right now I am shooting for the end of April, with a visit to Alicante ASAP. I could stop on the way down, visitar a la yaya y a los primos. . .

Oh! And I ask the Valenciano question because when I was in Alicante I went to a bilingual high school (castellano/valenciano) and took Llengua Valenciana and matematiques in Valenciano. However, I hardly ever used it outside the classroom. I thought that was pretty common practice, but while in Barcelona I constantly met valencianos who spoke it. Basically, what I am wondering is if I just met the valenciano-speakers because they could do so in Catalunya, or is it more spoken where you guys are.

heheeh, Claire !!

Jo parlo un poc, si :)

kenderina Feb 24th, 2006 01:43 PM

Claire, valenciano it's by far more spoken in Valencia and Castellon than in Alicante. It's because since first years of the twentieth century the biggest part of Alicante's province belonged to Albacete so they were castillian-speakers. In most places in Alicante Valenciano is not compulsory at schools. So chances are that the valencianos you met in Barcelona, where from Valencia or Castellón :)

kenderina Feb 24th, 2006 01:45 PM

Yesssss, lin !! I do want a Valencia GTG too :))

lincasanova Feb 24th, 2006 11:24 PM

we'll get a date together. I'll start thinking of a place. (hmmmm.. what would be as cool as Le Train Bleu???!!)

i don't think there will be many of us, but if we do it nearer to the may 11th beginning of the cup, we might get more attendance.

keep me posted on thoughts.
