where is a good location for a hotel in Paris
Hi all, I'm travelling with a friend to Paris in mid September and would like suggestions on a good 3 star hotel that is centrally located. (Preferably with Air con.)
Looking at the 100 euro and below range. Sounds vague but I've never been to Paris so no sure which area to look for. Any help would be great. Thanks! |
Do a Hotels Paris search on the board and you'll get more info than you'll know what to do with. Download a Paris map to help orient you. There have been several hotel threads on here just in the last week.

yeah, but I don't know of any centrally located 3* hotel with AC at that rate in peak season (Sept.).
|
Don't know about the AC but we really enjoyed the 2-Star Andrea Rivoli on the edge of the Maurais just a block from the Hotel De Ville and four blocks from Notre Dame. A double was 84 Euros. Broakfast was 7 euros more or there are lots of other places nearby.

Hi O,

Dacia Luxembourg in the Latin Quarter near Sorbonne is a very nice 3-star. But as other posters are getting at, what you want in a hotel and your price range are not quite a match!
|
I stayed at the Castex which is in the Marais and has ac and is very nice. Paid about 120 euros. It was worth it for the ac. If it gets hot in Paris I need it.
Enjoy Paris. |
I suggest a map of Paris to get a sense of how things are laid out. The arrondisements spiral outward by number. The 4th thru the 7th are the usual favorites, being centrally located, especially for a first time trip.

Hi
I agree that you're looking at a 2 star, and you are stretching the upper limit of the price range if you want a/c. Check the Hotel Muguet www.hotel-muguet.com |

If you're new to Paris, perhaps you're not familiar with the star rating system. It's not the same as in the USA, for example. Why do you think you need a 3-star hotel? |
meant to add, you may find it useful to go through the Paris superthread

Last July we stayed at the Hotel Muguet and we loved it. It has AC that works very well. The hotel is near the Eiffel Tower and the Invalides and near the Ecole Militaire metro. It's clean(very)and quiet.

You are traveling with a friend but did not say if you want a single room at 100E each, or a double/twin at 100E. That would make a difference.
|
Check out bestwestern.com. Their hotels in Europe are sometimes a very good deal - they often have some character, but with fewer amenities than high-end hotels they can end up costing quite a bit less. Find some in your price range in a central location, and then research them on tripadvisor.com.

Here are a couple:
Hotel Beaugrenelle (St Charles) has 51 air-cond rooms, twins at 87-105Euro. http://www.hotelbeaugralize.com/beau...e/indexUS.html (notate the address as there are a couple of similarly-named hotels) Grand Hotel Leveque has air-cond until Sept 15, twins 87-110Euro http://www.hotelleveque.com/index.php |
I agree with the posters that recommend the Mugeut near Rue Clar. We enjoyed out stay there a couple of years ago if the price is within range. Just after Christmas It sees like it was about 110 euros for a double.
|
I just checked the Mugeut's website http://www.hotelmuguet.com/English/TheHotel1.htm For two persons it is 100-108 euros depending sleeping arrangements (double or twin).
|
Try the Hotel Favart (http://www.hotel-favartopera.com), a 3 star hotel not far away from Opéra and Grands Boulevards, in the 2nd...so perfectly located, the area in really safe and there is a lot of thingd to do...Moreover, the area of Opera is really an important place for metro connections so you will find a lot of lines to go anywhere else if you want to visit..
Have a good trip! |
Hotel Residence Monge on rue Monge in the 5th is a good location. Very clean, comfortable and good AC. It will be in your pice range easily. www.hotelmonge.com
